The Vigilis MCP server lets an AI assistant work directly with your Vigilis data. Instead of exporting a report, pasting it into a chat window, and hoping the numbers survive the trip, you connect the assistant once and then ask it questions in plain language.
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside systems. You do not need to know anything about the protocol to use it. What matters is what it changes for you: the assistant reaches your live data, under your sign-in, with your permissions.
What you can do with it
Once connected, your assistant works against the same records you see when you sign in to Vigilis. That covers the areas described elsewhere in this help center: your invoices and the review queue, your service inventory and contracts, your circuits and bandwidth, your projects, tasks, and tickets, and your reports.
The practical shape of that is questions and requests you would otherwise work through by hand:
- Ask what changed on this month’s invoices against last month, and why.
- Pull the services at a location that are inside their renewal window.
- Summarize open billing disputes and where each one stands.
- Cross-check a contract’s committed rate against what a carrier actually billed.
When you connect, your assistant is offered the same set of tools as everyone else. What differs is which of them return data when called: your plan and your role are checked as each tool runs, not when the list is built. So two people at the same company see an identical tool list, and the one with narrower access gets a clear refusal where the other gets records. What your assistant can do covers the full set.
What it does not do
The MCP server is a connection to your data, not a separate product with its own features. It does not add capabilities Vigilis does not already have, and it does not bypass anything.
- It cannot reach records your Vigilis role cannot reach. See Permissions and security.
- It is not a replacement for your managed services team. Your Expense Analyst and Project Coordinator still run disputes, MACD requests, and carrier work.
- It does not act on its own. It responds when you ask, inside your assistant’s session.

If you are not on Enterprise and want MCP access, ask your Customer Advisor or your provider to add it.
Reading and writing are enabled separately. An organization can be set up so its assistants can read everything the user can read and change nothing, which is a reasonable place to start: questions are answered, and no record moves. If reads work and every change is refused, that is the setting, not a fault.
Connecting is not the test of whether you have it. Sign-in succeeds either way, and the tool list appears either way. A plan without the add-on fails on the first tool your assistant actually runs, with “MCP access is not enabled for this organization’s plan”. Customers on older agreements that predate the plan catalog are not affected and keep working.

What is the Vigilis MCP server?
It is a secure connection point that lets an AI assistant such as Claude work with your Vigilis data. You sign in with your normal Vigilis account, and the assistant can then answer questions about your invoices, services, contracts, and circuits without you exporting anything.
Which plans include MCP access?
MCP is included at the Enterprise tier. On every other tier it is a paid add-on, quoted per engagement, and it is bundled with API and SSO access. Ask your Customer Advisor or provider to enable it. Connecting does not tell you whether you have it: sign-in succeeds regardless, and a plan without it fails on the first tool your assistant runs.
Does the MCP server give the AI more access than I have?
No. The connection runs as you. Your role and permissions in Vigilis still apply, so the assistant can only reach records you could open yourself.
Do I need an API key?
No. You sign in through your browser the first time you connect, the same way you sign in to Vigilis. There is no key to copy or store.
