# Comments and notifications

## Comments and @-mentions

Most detail pages in Vigilis have a **comments** thread at the bottom. You will find one on tickets, services, tasks, workstreams, projects, and accounts.

In a comment thread you can:

- Post plain-text comments and attach files.
- **@-mention a person** to notify them by email and in-app notification. Mentions only resolve to people in your own organization.
- **@-mention a task** to drop a direct link to that task into the comment.

### Shared feeds between services and workstreams

When a service belongs to a project workstream, the two share a single combined comment feed on both pages, so you never have to check two places for the full conversation. A comment you post on the service shows up on the workstream and vice versa, each clearly labeled with where it came from.

## Notifications

A comment mention reaches you through your personal notification settings, and ticket comments follow your **Ticket Updates** preference. Rather than manage any of that from here, it all lives in one place: which events email you, how the in-app bell behaves, and the Monday weekly digest. See [Notification preferences](/your-account/notification-preferences/).

Organization-wide notification recipients are a separate, admin-only setting. See [Organization settings](/administration/organization-settings/).

## Common questions

**Someone @-mentioned me but I didn't get an email. What happened?**

Check your notification preferences. Mentions notify by email and in-app by default, so if the preference is on, check your spam folder too.

**Can I mention someone outside my organization?**

No. Mentions only resolve to people in your own organization, for privacy.

**Which pages have a comment thread?**

Detail pages for tickets, services, tasks, workstreams, projects, and accounts each have a comment thread at the bottom. A service in a project workstream shares one combined feed with that workstream.
